Ramallah, (Petra)-- Representative of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Sami Daoud, conveyed the King, the government and the Jordanian people's greetings to the Palestinian brothers celebrating Christmas.

During his participation Monday evening, at the Christmas feast for the Christian churches running according to the old Julian Calendar, in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the city of Bethlehem, Daoud emphasized Jordan's supportive stance towards the Palestinian brothers until achieving their legitimate goals of freedom, independence and the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Palestinians have always faced settlement expansion, said Daoud, adding that they derive their steadfastness from the legacy of parents and grandparents, and they follow the footsteps of the Hashemites who carry the custodianship of holy sites in Jerusalem and defend the holy city in all forums and platforms.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas lauded the continued Jordanian participation in Christian celebrations in Palestine.

In his speech during the Christmas feast, President Abbas commended King Abdullah's role and Jordan's firm stances in supporting the Palestinian cause at all levels and in various fields, especially in protecting and defending Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine.
