Amman, (Petra)-- Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday met with a Canadian delegation comprising Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan, Minister of Immigration, refugees and Citizenship John McCallum and Health Minister Jane Philpott.

During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, Ensour discussed with the delegation the burden shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting 1.4 million Syrian refugees.

He pointed to the pressure being placed on Jordan due to the presence f a large number of refugees, in light of the limited aid provided by the international community to Jordan.

"Despite that, Jordan is working to develop a unique model of democracy that is characterized by openness and freedoms," he said pointing to major accomplishment that have been achieved by Jordan in the health and educational fields.

The Canadian ministers said Canada will host 10,000 Syrian refugees until the end of December and 15,000 until the end of next February.
