PM chairs meeting for ICT Advisory Council.

Amman, (Petra)--Prime Minister hani Al Mulki on Wednesday chaired a meeting for the recently restructured Advisory Council of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

During the meeting, which was attended by State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani and ICT Minister Majd Shweikeh, the prime minister said that the government gives special importance to the ICT sector that supports the national economy and contributes to creating job opportunities for Jordanians.

He said the economic stimulus plan that was prepared by the government aims to automate economic work procedures and complete the electronic government programme by 2020, adding that the ITC sector will have a role in stimulating investments.

Al Mulki urged the council to adopt policies and procedures that will enrich the economic growth plan that can absorb ideas related to development.

During the meeting, the prime minister also reviewed aspects of the financial reform program which he said is a national program that aims at tackling imbalances that occurred over the past years due to a number of reasons including the disruption of Egyptian gas supplies, the Syrian refugee crisis and the increase in expenditure and non justified exemptions.

On amendments to the Income Tax law, Al Mulki said that the government is committed to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to protect the middle class and low income groups.
